Odfjell Global Safety Day 2019

In Bergen, the Global Safety Day theme focused on “Change management in a digital world”. The guest speaker was professor Christine Meyer from the Department of Strategy and Management at the Norwegian School of Economics. In her presentation, she talked about how digitalization influences our work environment and how we can handle changes and new technology in the workplace.

The main topic for the Global Safety Day in Odfjell Durban was the Protection of Personal Information Act (PoPI Act), presented by the local law firm Messrs Strauss Daly.

The PoPI Act aims to ensure that all South African institutions conduct themselves in a responsible manner when collecting, processing, storing and sharing another entity’s personal information. It grants the individual, as the owner of his/her own personal information, with rights of protection and ability to exercise control over certain actions on the information.

The highlight of the Global Safety Day celebration in Odfjell in the Philippines (OiP) was the launch of the Shored Based Safety, Security and Contingency Manual which outlines the safety and security guidelines for OiP. The Health and Safety Dashboard, which contains information on the inspections done by the Safety Team, the hazards and events in the office, and other safety-related programs, was also presented during the event.

Odfjell SE Chairman Laurence Odfjell graced Odfjell Singapore's Global Safety Day celebration and urged everyone to actively participate in the annual event to ensure that Odfjell'ers in Singapore are not only aware of the safety culture, but are also practitioners of safety, at work and everywhere else.
