Odfjell Terminals Houston continues its efforts to reopen its truck, railcar, and marine schedules for limited operations. We remain reliant on portable power, limiting our operational abilities; however, we expect continuous gains in our efforts towards full operations as we transition from these manually intensive operations.

Utilities capabilities:

  • The main boiler was brought online January 3, and we have resumed normal steaming capability. The auxiliary boiler remains operational and available if needed.
  • Other terminal utilities, such as air, nitrogen, chilling, water, and flaring remain operational although reliant on portable power.
  • We consider our utilities to be fully online and functional.

Pumping capabilities:

  • The locally sourced temporary HPU units were brought online on January 7, providing limited capacity to the terminal’s hydraulic distribution system for additional rail, truck, and marine activities.
  • The two larger hydraulic units from Europe arrived January 4 and are undergoing testing, training, and final tie-in to our plant-wide hydraulic distribution system.
  • This transitional hydraulic system will allow the ramp-up of product movements over the next couple of weeks providing us full pumping capacity until the new permanent system is online.

Electrical Power capabilities:

  • We are currently supplying approximately 80% of plant power through a network of portable generators, with the remainder supported by distributed commercial power. Concurrently, we are repairing our primary systems to resume full distribution of power.
  • We have established a structured fueling and maintenance program for the generators, as well as onsite backup generators for all sizes to drive electrical reliability.
  • The increase in distributed commercial power will occur in a phased approach over the next several weeks and will replace the portable generators.

Our personnel has been working every day since 12/11 to restore operations as soon as possible. OTH remains focused on resuming operations as quickly as possible in the safest manner possible.
