Cyber threats often start small—a strange email, an unusual login prompt, or a message that just feels off. These signs can be easy to overlook, but reporting them right away can stop a potential breach before it happens. At Odfjell, your awareness is key to keeping our systems and data secure.

Examples of suspicious activity:

  • Unexpected pop-ups or login prompts
  • Emails requesting sensitive information (e.g., credentials, financial info), especially with urgency
  • Unexpected attachments or links from unknown or known senders
  • Unknown devices connected to your computer
  • Pop-ups, warnings, or error messages about viruses or encryption that demand payment
  • Emails - Messages - Phone Call that “just don’t feel right”

Take action immediately!

If you experience any cyber-related suspicious activity:

Do's

  • Stop, Think, Act before clicking links, opening attachments, or responding to emails
  • Lock your computer when stepping away from your desk
  • Use strong, unique passwords and update them regularly
  • Keep your software updated — install security patches when prompted
  • Verify unusual requests (like money transfers or access changes) with the sender via another method (e.g., phone)

Don'ts

  • Don’t ignore strange emails, pop-ups, or login prompts
  • Don’t click suspicious links or download unknown attachments
  • Don’t share passwords or MFA codes
  • Don’t try to fix serious issues yourself — escalate them to IT Security
  • Don’t plug in unverified USB devices or external drives
  • Don’t assume others will report it — your action matters

Never ignore instincts. If it feels off. It probably is. Reporting quickly can prevent a breach.

Your vigilance keeps Odfjell safe.
