In his introduction, VP Maritime Personnel Svend Foyn-Bruun looked back to the Odfjell’s history and acknowledged the seafarers’ contributions in every company milestone. He thanked the 11 loyal crewmembers for their gift of loyalty to the company, and thanked the families as well for their unwavering support that gave our seafarers strengh and kept them inspired.

To expound on the importance of such support from the family, Mrs. Corazon Grace Altura, wife of Chief Engineer Gerry Altura, delivered a message to pay tribute to fellow seafarer wives. Drawing on her experience as someone who automatically assumes the role of man of the house the moment her husband goes on board, she illustrated how the seafarer and his wife make equal sacrifices throughout the former’s career. Hence, any seafarer’s victory is also his wife’s victory. She also thanked Odfjell for providing its seafarers a safe environment to work.

On behalf of the awardees, Chief Engineer Sandy Arce delivered a thank you message to his colleagues, the company, and their ever supportive families.
