Fleet Week Manila 2026: Strengthening connections, celebrating dedicated service

03.11.2026

Our second Fleet Week of the year brought together seafarers, officers and representatives from Odfjell’s Manila, Bergen and Singapore offices on October 28–29 for operational discussions, practical workshops and recognition of long-serving colleagues.

With both days successfully completed, the gathering provided time for participants to exchange perspectives on safety and fleet operations, discuss the tools supporting their work and connect in person.

The program combined updates from shore teams with opportunities to draw on experience from vessels, bringing different perspectives into discussions on the fleet’s priorities.

Day 1: Bridging safety and operations

Fleet Week opened with OpTech Day, with Chief Technical Officer Torger Trige welcoming participants. Sessions covered fleet status, maritime personnel, navigation and safety, alongside updates on health, safety, security, environment and quality.

A dedicated Port State Control workshop focused on inspection preparation. The mix of presentations and group discussions gave participants space to consider operational requirements in the context of everyday work on board and the support provided ashore.

The day concluded with closing remarks and action points before participants gathered for the evening’s celebration.

An evening of recognition

After a full-day of productive discussion during the OpTech session, the dinner and awarding ceremony brought colleagues and families together to honor long-serving members of Odfjell.

The evening recognized 25-year service milestones and included a special distinction for Captain Arne Johansen, who received the Norwegian Shipowners' Association Gold Medal for 30 years of service within the association.

Management messages, the presentation of awards and reflections from the next generation placed the awardees' careers and family support at the center of the celebration.

The Engineer Workshop focused on fleet performance, ship management updates and technical processes. Sessions on the SM Portal and SM Dashboard were followed by discussions on the end-to-end dry-docking process, with groups presenting their workshop results.

Across both days, Fleet Week brought shipboard and shore perspectives into the same conversations. Alongside the working sessions, the recognition of long-serving colleagues offered a reminder of the experience within Odfjell and the people whose contributions continue to support the fleet.
