Odfjell wins prestigious Sustainable Shipowner Award

Odfjell seized the spotlight at the 2024 World Maritime Forum in Copenhagen, securing the 'Sustainable Shipowner Award' in a competitive category that featured industry giants such as Maersk, MSC Cruises, StenaLine, DFDS and Hafnia.

The World Maritime Forum annually convenes leaders, experts, and innovators across the maritime value chain. Spanning two days, the forum facilitates the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and new strategies through presentations and panel discussions, all with one overarching aim: to steer the industry towards an efficient and environmentally conscious future.  

Against this backdrop, the award ceremony took center stage, featuring nine awards, including the prestigious ‘Sustainable Shipowner Award’, reserved for "the company that has exhibited unparalleled dedication to green practices and sustainable operations." Odfjell was named as the winner: 

“Odfjell’s unwavering commitment to eco-conscious practices and innovative solutions sets a benchmark for sustainable shipping worldwide. The award symbolizes Odfjell's leadership in sustainable shipping, driving positive change within the maritime industry.”

Panel discussion with representatives from Clean Shipping Alliance, Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, MSC Cruises, AS Tallink Grupp, Svitzer, Stillstrom by Maersk, Bluetech Finland and Odfjell.

Chief Sustainability Officer Øistein Jensen held a keynote on ‘Climate change mitigation and adaptation’ and participated in the panel discussing ‘The road to zero: Accomplishments and challenges’, sharing how climate change affects our industry, the hurdles of getting to net zero, and what we can do now. 

After receiving the award, Øistein expressed gratitude and credited the achievement to Odfjell's innovative nature, stating: 

“Odfjell's win in the Sustainable Shipowner Award category stands as a testament to our organization's unwavering commitment to sustainability. It is a reflection of our persistent pursuit of novel technologies and efficient operations.”
