Seafarers recognized for long-term service

“You are true ambassadors of our commitment to quality.” Six Odfjell seafarers were recognized for their 25-year work anniversaries at the year’s final awardee events in Manila and Bergen.

The ceremonies are part of our long-standing program to honor colleagues who have been employed and made professional contributions to Odfjell for 25 or 40 years—a welcome occasion to share praise and appreciation for members of our global team.

“This ceremony is a reminder that we’re all part of something bigger than ourselves—a company with a legacy that stretches far beyond any one career. As dedicated seafarers, you’ve not only mastered your craft but also passed on our values and culture to the next generation. Your loyalty is invaluable, and it’s what makes our company strong,” said VP Maritime Personnel Svend Foyn-Bruun.

“Your loyalty isn’t something we can demand—it’s a gift you’ve given us. It’s about living our values, carrying our culture forward, and giving us a real competitive edge. We can only earn your loyalty by deserving it, and for that, we’re deeply grateful.”

“Tonight we honor our seafarers—the men who brave the waves and storms and long months away so their families can live with comfort, dignity, and hope. Your courage is extraordinary. Your sacrifices shape the dreams and future of your children,” Manager of Human Resources J-Ann Ignacio added.

The awardees’ wives joined our colleagues at the ceremony in Manila and were traditionally and well-deservedly honored:

Our awardees:

Captain Arnel Mayol began his career with Mare Princess in 1999 and rose steadily through the ranks, earning recognition for his professionalism, hard work, and exceptional leadership, ultimately serving as Chief Officer in 2011 and taking command of the Bow Santos as Captain in 2016.

Having recently completed his contract on the Bow Performer, he continues to exemplify excellence and dedication as he prepares to return after a well-earned break.

Bosun Antonio Andres his Odfjell career 25 years ago as an Engine Boy aboard NCC JIZAN, quickly proving his determination and strong work ethic. Having served on vessels including Bow Sea Old, Bow Eagle, Bow Sailor, and most recently Bow Explorer, he is admired for his reliability and teamwork across the fleet. Beyond his life at sea, he finds joy in time spent with family and friends, keeping him grounded and inspired.

Messman Argomenes Gaytano began his Odfjell career in 1999 as a Messman on Bow Lancer and went on to serve aboard vessels such as Bow Lion, Bow Cheetah, and Bow Atlantic. Known for his professionalism, dependability, and integrity, he has remained a steady and trusted presence throughout his years at sea. Off duty, he enjoys driving his own passenger jeepney—a unique passion that reflects the same dedication he brings to his work.

Second Officer Rene Gulfan began his career as a Deck Cadet on Bow Explorer (Old) in 1998 and went on to serve vessels such as Bow Panther, Bow Eagle, and Bow Puma, consistently demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and dependable leadership. Throughout his voyages, his expertise and commitment have ensured safe and efficient operations across the fleet.

Able Seaman Joseph Steve Roudini Perez III began his seafaring career in 1999 as a Messman aboard NCC Najran and went on to serve on vessels such as Bow Hunter, Bow Jubail, and Bow Fighter, consistently demonstrating loyalty and dedication. His professionalism and steadfast contributions over the years have made him a respected and valued member of the Odfjell family.

Fitter Bernardo Samson Jr. joined the company in 1998 as a Motorman aboard Bow Heron and later served on vessels such as Bow Fagus, Bow Clipper, and Bow Pride.

Known for his cheerful spirit and positive energy, he consistently fosters strong teamwork and a harmonious atmosphere onboard.
