Held in Singapore on Spetember 22, the forum focused on the changing conversation around cleaner marine fuels. The challenge is no longer limited to identifying the “right” alternative fuel. It also involves building the fuel supply, bunkering infrastructure, vessel technology, crew competence and regulations required to use new solutions safely and at scale.
Chair Laurence highlighted three priorities for Odfjell: energy efficiency, fuel flexibility and sustainable biofuels. These offer practical opportunities to reduce emissions today while avoiding premature investment or lock-in to a single future fuel or technology.
With continued regulatory and geopolitical uncertainty, the industry is unlikely to converge on one fuel solution. Several pathways are expected to coexist, making it important for companies and vessels to retain the flexibility to adapt as technologies and markets develop.
