With around 170 participants in attendance, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate the strong bonds that connect our crew, their loved ones, and the wider Odfjell community.
A warm and festive celebration
The day began on a cheerful note as participants arrived to the sound of lively music, immediately setting the atmosphere for celebration. Adding a distinctly Filipino touch, guests were treated to warm servings of taho—a beloved local delicacy made with soft tofu, sweet arnibal, and chewy tapioca pearls.
Children enjoyed colorful face painting activities, while families embraced the festive spirit by arriving in bright and creative attire, bringing extra energy and personality to the gathering.
The program officially opened with welcome remarks from VP MPS Gunnar Moen, followed by a company update from OPI President and General Manager Agnes Enesio. During her address, she shared updates on the company and highlighted the important role families play in supporting crew members throughout their maritime careers.
Supporting crew members and their families
A key part of the event focused on learning and support through two simultaneous workshops designed for both seafarers and their loved ones.
The Crew Safety Workshop, facilitated by 3M Rey Philip Gallos, was attended by 18 crew members and reinforced the importance of maintaining safety at all times.
At the same time, family members participated in an allottees’ workshop entitled “Between Waves and Waiting,” led by guest speaker Ms. Marisol Tormon, a registered Psychometrician. The session provided valuable insights and practical tools to help families navigate the unique challenges of life at sea. One of the most meaningful moments of the workshop was a letter-writing activity, where participants expressed appreciation for their husbands, fathers, and sons, recognizing their dedication, sacrifices, and hard work.
An afternoon filled with fun and creativity
Following the morning sessions, the event shifted into a lively celebration filled with entertainment and shared experiences.
Families took part in interactive games, enjoyed a magician’s performance, and eagerly joined the excitement of raffle draws throughout the afternoon.
One of the most anticipated highlights was the Best Dressed competition, where participants proudly showcased their creativity and style in both individual and family categories. The enthusiasm and effort displayed in every outfit made the segment a memorable crowd favorite and added even more color to the festivities.
Celebrating the strength of family
More than a day of activities and entertainment, Crew and Family Day 2026 in Iloilo served as a meaningful reminder of the strong support system behind every crew member. Through learning, laughter, and shared moments, the event highlighted the vital role families play in the well-being and success of those working at sea.
The success of the event was made possible through the participation of crew members and their families, as well as the support of Odfjell management and the dedicated efforts of the organizing team spearheaded by Crew and Family Services.
