The first day focused on the strategic and regulatory landscape, with strong perspectives from industry and Philippines government. A notable highlight was Addison Sim joining the panel with Norma Cyber, contributing to the discussion on how cyber risk directly intersects with safety, leadership, and operational decision‑making at sea.
Meanwhile, the second day’s highlight was practice through interactive parallel workshops—one stream for seafarers and shore staff attended by Wilen Villamor & Shaun Hendrick Dioko, and another for IT and technical specialists attended by Addison Sim and Aries Agujar.
Realistic scenarios explored GPS spoofing, navigation and engine system take‑over, loss of system reliability, and decision‑making under uncertainty. The sessions concluded by deliberately bringing both streams together, underlining the importance of close alignment between onboard operations, shore management, and IT.
The team was actively engaged throughout the conference, and was invited to wrap up the event by presenting the consolidated workshop conclusions, reflecting our strong operational contribution to the discussions.
