Odfjell colleagues plant for the future with tree-growing initiative in Manila

The day began with a warm welcome from MTFI, who reaffirmed their mission to strengthen ecological initiatives across Metro Manila. A presentation on tree-growing underscored the crucial role that reforestation plays in supporting water dams, protecting biodiversity, and mitigating the effects of climate change. 

Compliance and Competence Manager Capt. Marlo Salayo shared a personal reflection on the long-term value of planting trees, reminding participants that the benefits extend beyond the environment and will be felt by generations to come. His message reinforced the link between sustainability and Odfjell’s broader purpose: to support safe, reliable, and responsible global trade. 

Before moving to the field, participants were given a tutorial on planting techniques and safety measures to ensure the saplings were placed securely and sustainably. Teams then worked side by side, planting trees that will contribute to greener landscapes and healthier communities.  

To honor the spirit and dedication shown, certificates were awarded to participants. As part of the program, employees were also encouraged to share photos of their experience. Creative entries from Stephanie Gutierrez, Jobby Fabros, and Roselle Aguila were recognized with special tokens of appreciation.
