“The real question is not whether diversity is good for our company and our industry. It’s whether our systems, culture, and leadership allow diversity to work,” she said. “Culture does not change through optimism alone. It changes through structure, systems, and consistent behavior. The event gathered 140 maritime colleagues from 50 regional companies and featured a wide-reaching program. From Odfjell and YoungShip, Ship Operator Andrea Våge Aasen highlighted what young professionals expect from employers, while VP Corporate IT Alena K. Pedersen shared some of her experiences as one of the few female leaders in the IT field.

On the other side of the mountains, Captain Lise Henriksen inspired attendees at the Innovation Norway Women’s Day breakfast meeting with her story of becoming a captain – a story of mentorship, opportunities, and gumption.

The week ended with Lise, Ingjerd, and Manager Crewing Eva Storeide presenting at the BMPF maritime seminar on how to bridge generations and build a thriving psychosocial work environment at sea, ashore, and in-between.
