Odfjell vessels and offices came together for the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026, known internally as Global Safety Day, through activities centered on this year’s theme, “Creating a safe and respectful workplace, free from intimidation and harassment.”
Guided by the slogan “Act with kindness and respect. Stand against bullying,” employees and crew members reflected on how everyday behaviors contribute to a safer, more inclusive, and supportive work environment.
As part of this year’s activities, a photo competition was launched, encouraging seafarers and onshore employees to capture moments that reflected the event’s theme and values. Out of all the participants, Seafarer Anthony Tuala emerged as this year’s winner.
Across Odfjell vessels, Global Safety Day 2026 included onboard sessions aimed at strengthening safety awareness and teamwork at sea. Activities took place under safe operational conditions, with participation from crew members across the fleet.
Discussions and group exercises encouraged crew members to reflect on respect, communication, teamwork, and shared responsibility in maintaining a safe working environment.
The activities generated strong engagement and active participation among crew members, reinforcing the importance of both safe practices and respectful behavior onboard.
Across the fleet, Global Safety Day served as a meaningful reminder that safety at sea depends not only on procedures, but also on the attitudes and behaviors that support a respectful and inclusive working environment.

Across Odfjell offices, Global Safety Day focused on strengthening awareness around psychological safety, respect, and collective responsibility in the workplace.
At Flumar, employees participated in interactive discussions and practical activities centered on kindness, respect, harassment, intimidation, and healthy conflict.
Exercises such as the Kindness Thermometer and “Is This OK or Not OK?” encouraged open and honest reflection on workplace behaviors that strengthen or weaken safety culture.
A collective mural allowed participants to share insights on supporting colleagues, reinforcing positive behaviors, and applying the event’s message in daily work. Employees also made individual commitments focused on actions they would adopt, behaviors they would leave behind, and ways to better support one another.
The strong participation and thoughtful contributions reflected Flumar’s continued commitment to fostering a respectful and safe workplace.
In Manila, employees attended a session on psychological safety led by Rosette Morga from Empath.
The discussion focused on understanding psychological safety, recognizing early signs of mental health distress, and addressing the impact of bullying, harassment, and toxic workplace behaviors on well-being, teamwork, and productivity. The session reinforced the importance of creating a workplace where employees feel respected, supported, and heard.
Meanwhile, in Singapore, the event featured opening messages from General Manager Zaidi and Chairman Laurence Odfjell, who emphasized the importance of practicing respect daily and supporting colleagues as the organization continues adapting to change and new technologies.
Employees participated in presentations, games, and a Kahoot quiz that reinforced the day’s key messages. Colleagues were also recognized in a “Kindness” poll. The celebration concluded with a shared lunch, providing an opportunity for employees to connect and reflect together.
