The 26,000 dwt chemical tanker was traditionally blessed and named before launch, in a ceremony attended by representatives from the owner, the shipyard, the financiers and Odfjell. CFO Terje Iversen and godmother Therese Iversen represented Odfjell. In his speech, Terje emphasized the importance of the occasion and the strong ties between the partners:
“This event marks a significant milestone in Odfjell’s longstanding partnership with Japanese tonnage partners and the Fukuoka Shipyard. Over the years, our companies have worked together to overcome challenges and achieve shared goals.”
The newbuilds will further enhance our global service by providing increased capacity and operational flexibility. Bow Fraternity is the 21st vessel in this size category, continuing our commitment to technical excellence, operational reliability, and environmental stewardship.
“Shipbuilding is a complex endeavor, requiring expertise from design through delivery. Today’s ceremony is a testament to what can be achieved when shipowners, builders, and operators work together.
Each vessel is a testament to our mutual trust and commitment to excellence. Our partnership is built not only on business objectives, but on shared values—respect, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. We look forward to seeing Bow Fraternity perform to the highest standards.”
Adding a newbuild series of ten ships is more than just operational expansion, Terje noted:
“It represents our ongoing dedication to safety, sustainability, and innovation in shipping.”
By investing in modern, efficient vessels, our fleet will be even better equipped to serve our diverse global customer base and support the continued advancement of deep-sea shipping.
“We are excited to welcome Bow Fraternity into service in early 2026. We are confident that she will deliver outstanding performance and contribute to the continued success of our fleet and our customers,” Terje concluded.
