Chair Laurence Odfjell honored with NBAS Award for decarbonization leadership

The Norwegian Business Association Singapore (NBAS) has presented its 2026 honorary award to our Chair, recognizing his contributions to strengthening Norway-Singapore business relations and his drive to accelerate sustainable solutions in shipping.

“Laurence is an industry leader on a mission to ensure his organization operates with technology and the best available solutions that will support sustainability and decarbonization-focused operating practices," NBAS President Leonard Opitz Stornes noted. “He brings a sense of urgency to the discussion and will openly challenge, motivate, and support other leaders in the shipping industry to do the same.”

Laurence accepted the award at the Norwegian Seafood Dinner – a flagship event hosted by NBAS, the Norwegian Embassy, and Innovation Norway – and dedicated the recognition to the Odfjell team:

“I am honored to receive this recognition, but this is more a recognition of the great work of Odfjell SE in our efforts to decarbonize our industry,” he said. “And, we could not do what we do without being part of the maritime cluster of Norway and the vibrant cluster here in Singapore. So my thanks for the great collaboration with these two leading maritime clusters.”

The Norwegian Seafood Dinner celebrates the strong ties between Norway and Singapore by welcoming members, partners, and relations to a cross-industry event. Our Singapore office opened back in 1975 and has been a cornerstone for our Asia activities ever since.

Continuing a longstanding tradition, Odfjell was pleased to serve wines from Odfjell Vineyards to nearly 1,000 attendees, to be enjoyed alongside the Norwegian Seafood Dinner.

“Tonight, we are enjoying great biodiversity with the amazing variety of seafood from Norway. We cannot take this richness for granted – we need to do more today for a better tomorrow,” Laurence encouraged.
