DNV issues certificate to Odfjell for reaching carbon intensity reduction target

DNV has verified Odfjell's success in reducing the carbon intensity of our owned tanker fleet by more than 50% in comparison to the 2008 International Maritime Organization baseline. The target was met in March 2023, ahead of our initial schedule.

The certificate was presented at Nor-Shipping 2023, where DNV congratulated Odfjell for demonstrating a proactive approach to emission reduction. DNV has been our objective third-party partner for several years to help us document our emission reduction progress.

“It is inspiring to receive this verification, and we thank DNV for being our trusted partner in documenting our data and progress. Our emission reduction results are the accomplishment of the entire Odfjell team: The Captains and crews, the fleet performance and ship management teams who work tirelessly every day to make our fleet more energy-efficient. We are very proud of our results so far, and the work continues,” Chief Sustainability Officer Øistein Jensen said.

Chair Laurence Odfjell echoed the appreciation of this team result:

“Congratulations to the whole Odfjell organization. It is great to be the best in class in something so important for the future of our planet. We will continue our efforts and innovations to reduce our carbon footprint further. Thanks to all of you for achieving this milestone.”
