Naming ceremony for Bow Ocelot

Odfjell’s fleet of 26k dwt chemical tankers continues to expand. In three months’ time, Bow Ocelot will enter the segment as the 21st vessel, adding new, high-quality stainless-steel tonnage to our services. The 24-tank newbuild was recently named and launched at the shipyard in Japan.

CEO Harald Fotland and godmother Signy Dame Fotland joined representatives from the yard, owners, and suppliers at the Asakawa shipyard for the ceremonial naming, rope-cutting, and launch.

In his speech, CEO Harald Fotland highlighted the good and longstanding relationship that Odfjell has with Japanese shipowners, shipyards, banks, and other stakeholders in the Japanese maritime industry.

Bow Ocelot is the ninth vessel in a series of 26k dwt newbuilds constructed at the Asakawa shipyard in Japan. With this series, the long-standing relationship with owner Nissen and Japanese shipbuilders continues.

The vessels are all named after strong and agile members of the cat family—from Jaguar and Panther to Cheetah and Ocelot.
