The EY award is one of Belgium’s most respected recognitions for business leadership and innovation, and Noord Natie’s selection as one of only four finalists reflects its strong results, visionary strategy, and long-term commitment to sustainable growth and operational excellence.
From cocoa to chemicals
Founded in 1548, Noord Natie has evolved from a family-run transport business into a modern logistics holding with global reach.
In addition to storage and handling of liquid bulk products through the joint venture with Odfjell, the group’s activities include storage and distribution of liquid bulk and temperature-sensitive goods, including fruit, coffee, and cocoa, trading activities, and port operations.
NNOAT is at the heart of Noord Natie’s transformation, a joint venture where Odfjell holds a 25% ownership stake. NNOAT is one of the largest independent chemical storage terminals in the Port of Antwerp, combining the heritage and future-oriented vision of its two shareholders, the Noord Natie group and Odfjell.
Since the start of the joint venture in 2011, NNOAT has invested significantly in modernizing and expanding its infrastructure, with more to come by 2030. These investments include new state-of-the-art tank pits, automation, and asset upgrades. A recent pilot project deploying drones for cargo sampling illustrates NNOAT’s unwavering focus on customer service, efficiency, and innovation.
Sustainability at the core
CEO of Noord Natie, Philip Van Gestel, credits the nomination to a collective effort.
“This nomination is a recognition of the dedication of all our employees and partners,” says Van Gestel. “As an Antwerp-based company with international ambitions, we keep investing in sustainable logistics, innovation, and quality—the pillars of our future.”
