Careers built at sea
Captain Eraño Nazar began his Odfjell career in 1999 as a Deck Cadet on board Bow Transporter. Through steady progression and consistent performance, he rose through the ranks to become a respected senior officer known for his discipline, professionalism, and leadership. Promoted to Chief Officer in 2015, he later took command of Bow Chain as Master Mariner in April 2025. He most recently served on board Bow Sun. Throughout his more than 25 years with Odfjell, Captain Nazar has demonstrated a strong commitment and genuine passion for his work at sea.
Chief Engineer Jan Tore Knutsen joined Odfjell in 1991 as an engine cadet on board Bow Leopard, building on earlier maritime experience that began in 1983. He advanced to Second Engineer in 1994 and was promoted to Chief Engineer in 2004. Since then, he has served on several vessels, including Bow Flora, Bow Chain, Bow Sea, and Bow Excellence, where he currently serves. In recognition of more than 30 years of service, he has been awarded the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association Gold Medal.
Anchored in legacy
Odfjell’s service awards are part of a longstanding tradition to recognize and honor colleagues who have devoted significant portions of their careers to the company. These honors not only celebrate personal milestones but also reflect the broader heritage of the company, one built on loyalty, resilience, and shared purpose across oceans.
Since 2010, around 500 seafarers have received long-term service awards. Each recognition represents years of experience at sea and a sustained commitment to safe and reliable operations.
“Together, these milestones reflect the depth of competence within Odfjell’s fleet and the strong culture shaped by our maritime professionals across generations. Congratulations to Captain Eraño Nazar and Chief Engineer Jan Tore Knutsen for your exceptional service, and thank you for representing the heart of Odfjell at sea and beyond,” Trige tributed.
