The Best Employer Brand Award honors top Philippine companies that have demonstrated outstanding human resources practices. Odfjell in the Philippines is recognized for having built a strong employer brand through remarkable efforts in talent acquisition, management and development, employee engagement and benefits, promoting diversity and inclusion, and corporate social responsibility initiatives, among others.
For an organization with just over 70 employees, the award reaffirms Odfjell as a desirable company to work for and build a career with. As of 2022, the company has awarded 25 employees for ten years of tenure, seven of whom have been Odfjell’ers for 15 years.
“This recognition is a picture of what we do, who we are, and where we are going. It encompasses everything we do for our people, our ambition to position the organization and Odfjell as an employer of choice in the country, and what our employees say about our company as a workplace."
Julie Ann Ignacio, HR Manager
Odfjell has been recruiting Filipino seafarers since the 1980s, but it wasn’t until 2008 that it separated from Magsaysay Maritime Corporation and established its own identity in the country. While the company is sought after by mariners, the brand is less recognized outside of the maritime industry. With the award, the organization gains more footing in the local recruitment market, giving the Odfjell brand more advantage in attracting and recruiting the right people.
“Receiving this recognition means so much to us. Being a small company in Manila serving a well-recognized shipping company, it tells us that we are attractive, and we will certainly use it when we are competing on new talents.”
Svend Foyn-Bruun, VP Maritime Personnel
