Laurence was elected together with Tommy Olofsen from OSM Ship Management and Mark Pearson from Maran Tankers Management. They join an Executive Committee of a total 15 representatives from the international tanker segment.
Thanking the Council for the assignment, Laurence said:
“There are so many important challenges facing our global industry today, and I cannot imagine a more relevant association for addressing and helping find solutions. I am honored to be nominated and elected, and I look forward to contributing in the coming years”.
The member-run trade association has served as the voice for independent tanker owners since 1970, and represents the interest of its members at national, regional and international levels.
Odfjell has been a member of INTERTANKO since 1981 and is currently also represented in various committees:
- Council: VP Maritime Personnel Svend Foyn Bruun (since 2007)
- Vetting: Marine Manager Jan Ove Ødegård
- Chemical Tankers: Manager Quality Management Fredrik Larsen
- Bunkers Sub-Committee: Senior Bunkers Purchaser May-Brit Christiansen (Chair)
- Environmental: VP Technology Erik Hjortland
The three-day conference in Singapore in November 2022 included team sessions for the various working committees, a council meeting, and a full-day Tankers conference.
All items discussed and presented covered very central themes and challenges the tanker industry faces today. Intertanko’s policy and standpoint on many highly relevant issues were discussed and agreed upon during the Council meeting, such as, IMO, GHG Strategy for reducing CO2 from ships, MARPOL Annex II Tank Washing, and ESG Reporting Guidance and Framework.
